Tractor units with swap bodies
Tractor units with swap bodies – also called BDF – are an extremely flexible and efficient solution for transporting goods. This combination of tractor unit and swap body makes it possible to change the load quickly and easily without needing an additional truck. This saves time and costs and reduces CO2 emissions.
BDF as a tractor unit
The tractor unit is the towing vehicle and is equipped with a fifth-wheel coupling system that allows the swap body to be attached securely and stably. The tractor unit usually has a powerful engine that provides enough power to transport heavy loads. In addition, modern tractor units have numerous safety features such as ABS, ESP and lane keeping assistants to ensure driving safety.
The "BDF" swap body is a special body that is mounted on the tractor unit and serves as the loading area. It consists of a sturdy frame and a removable loading area that can be replaced as required. The swap body can be supplied in various sizes and designs to meet the individual requirements of the transport. It can be designed, for example, as an open platform, a closed box or a refrigerated container. The advantage of tractor units with swap bodies lies in their flexibility. By quickly and easily changing the load, different goods can be transported with just one vehicle. This saves not only time and costs, but also reduces traffic on the roads. In addition, the swap body allows efficient use of the loading space, as it is usually height-adjustable and therefore suitable for loads of different heights.
